Luke 2:15-16
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in a manger.
Reflection
The shepherds' immediate response to the angel's message highlights their eagerness to seek and witness the fulfillment of God's promise. This spontaneous reaction reflects not only their faith but also their deep longing for hope and redemption in a world filled with uncertainty. Their haste and determination serve as a powerful reminder for us to actively pursue our relationship with Jesus, seeking Him in all aspects of our lives. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become distracted by our daily routines, but like the shepherds, we are called to prioritize our spiritual journey. We should strive to recognize the presence of Christ in our everyday experiences and actively look for opportunities to deepen our connection with Him, all while eagerly awaiting His return and the ultimate fulfillment of His promises.
Action
Today, take action by sharing your faith with someone who may not know the true meaning of Christmas. Invite them to join you at church on Grace in Action Sunday or offer to read the Christmas story with them. Share your personal experience of encountering Jesus and how it has brought joy and purpose to your life.
Prayer
Loving God, we thank You for the shepherds' example of seeking Your Son with eager hearts. Help us to actively pursue our relationship with Jesus and share His good news with those around us. May we be bold in proclaiming His love and grace, especially during this Advent season. Prepare our hearts for Grace in Action Sunday as we seek to spread Your message of joy and hope to all people. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
