Mark 1:12-15
At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Reflection
In Mark 1:12-15, we see Jesus being led by the Spirit to be tested in the wilderness for forty days. Throughout this time, He is ministered to by angels as we see in verse 13. This passage emphasizes Christ's humanity as He faced the same temptations and struggles we do, yet remained without sin. His time in the wilderness prepares Him for His ministry of proclaiming the good news, which He begins after John is imprisoned. Jesus' proclamation of the nearness of God's kingdom invites us to repent and believe in the good news, emphasizing the importance of a transformed heart through His grace and forgiveness.
Action
Take a moment to reflect on how Jesus faced temptation during his forty days in the wilderness. Think about areas in your own life where you may be struggling with temptation or doubt. Ask God to help you overcome these challenges and find strength in Christ's example. As we approach Grace in Action Sunday, consider how you can share the good news of God's kingdom with those around you and invite them to experience the transformative power of Jesus' grace.
Prayer
Loving Father, we thank You for sending Your Son as an example of strength and endurance in the face of temptation. Help us to find comfort in His humanity and draw strength from His victory over sin. Today on Grace in Action Sunday, guide us to share the good news of Your kingdom with those around us, inviting them to experience the peace and transformation that comes from knowing You. We pray for those who are facing challenges and struggles in their lives, may they find hope in Christ's love and grace. In His name, we pray. Amen.
