Advent: Grace in Action - Day 7

Obadiah 1:15

The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.

Reflection

The book of Obadiah tells a story of God’s judgment upon Edom for their pride and mistreatment of Israel. This verse serves as a reminder that our actions and attitudes have consequences, both in this life and the next. As we journey through Advent, let us reflect on how we treat others and whether our attitudes align with God's principles of love and compassion. It also encourages us to seek forgiveness for any wrongdoings and strive towards reconciliation with those we may have hurt or mistreated.

Action

Today, take a moment to examine your heart and ask God to reveal any areas where you may have hurt or mistreated others. Seek forgiveness from Him and those you may have wronged. Consider ways to reconcile and show love towards those you may have disagreements with or hold resentment against. Remember that our actions and attitudes towards others should reflect the grace, love, and forgiveness extended to us by Christ.

Prayer

Merciful Father, we come before You acknowledging our shortcomings and the times we have fallen short in treating others with love and compassion. We ask for Your forgiveness and seek Your guidance in transforming our hearts to align with Your will. As we navigate this Advent season, help us to be instruments of Your peace, spreading kindness and understanding in every situation. Strengthen us to reconcile with those we have hurt and to extend grace where needed, reflecting the love You have so generously given us. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
