Advent: Grace in Action - Day 18

Luke 2:17-20

When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Reflection

The shepherds' reaction to seeing Jesus was one of amazement and wonder as they shared their experience with others. Mary's response was different; she quietly treasured these moments in her heart, reflecting on God's faithfulness and promises. This contrast demonstrates the unique ways we can respond to encountering Christ - some may feel called to share boldly while others may reflect more inwardly. Both are valid expressions of our faith and offer opportunities for growth and deeper understanding. No matter how we choose to respond, it's essential to allow these experiences to shape and transform our hearts, leading us closer to God.

Action

Today, take a moment to reflect on your personal encounters with Jesus. Recall the times when you felt His presence or recognized His work in your life. Write down these experiences and express your gratitude to God for them. As we prepare for Grace in Action Sunday, think about how you can use these memories to deepen your faith and share the love of Christ with others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the different ways we can experience Your Son, Jesus, in our lives, especially during Advent. Help us to cherish these Advent moments and use them as reminders of Your steadfast love and faithfulness towards us. Guide us as we seek to share our faith with others, whether through bold proclamation or quiet reflection. Prepare our hearts for Grace in Action Sunday as we celebrate and share the good news of Your Son's birth. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
